摘要

Developmental robotics is concerned with the
\ndesign of algorithms that promote robot adaptation
\nand learning through qualitative growth of
\nbehaviour and increasing levels of competence.
\nThis paper uses ideas and inspiration from psychological
\nknowledge of pre-grasping infants (up
\nto 3 months of age) to examine the issues and
\nfactors that might produce similar mechanisms
\nfor use in robotic systems. The study includes
\ndiscussion of results from robotic experiments on
\nsensory-motor models and key issues are raised
\nthroughout.
