摘要
The motivation behind this chapter is to improve the way and manner in which healthcare delivery is handled in terms of safe and effective medical care. Technological developments in robotics as related to the internet of things (IoT), and internet of medical things (IoMT) is greatly influencing many aspects of human day-to-day life. IoT and robotic technology provide an opportunity to collect data remotely on vital parameters that influence health conditions using IoT enabled health monitoring sensor devices. With the data from these devices, useful intelligence is generated and then used to improve human health in a very effective manner. The chapter presents the recent advances in the application of IoT, wearable technologies and robotics to healthcare delivery. Insights are given on existing areas of IoT, wearable and robotics applications as well as recent success stories on its implication to healthcare delivery. Specific cases of applications to diverse diseases which affect human life are presented with possible research areas for future developments in the field. This research could motivate healthcare-driven solution providers, stakeholders in health sector, and software developers to gravitate towards creating future strategies for healthcare delivery, aided by technology for faster, effective, and efficient health service delivery.
