摘要

A programmable origami-based string is a 1-degree-of-freedom slender mechanism which folds from a flat configuration to a programmed 3D shape. Inspired by origami, Ashkan Vaziri and co-workers replace paper and creases with 3D printed panels and revolute hinges, respectively. As presented in article number 1700276, even the folding of complex string designs can be fully controlled using a single actuator making them promising for potential robotic applications.
