About

Young Jin Yang is a pioneering researcher at the intersection of soft robotics and advanced micro/nano fabrication. His work is defined by two key areas: developing novel 3D printing strategies for multi-material soft robots and creating scalable transfer-printing methods for functional sensors. In a landmark 2016 study (56 citations), Yang introduced an *in situ* UV-curable 3D printing technique to fabricate a multi-material tri-legged soft bot capable of a spider-mimicked multi-step dynamic forward gait—a significant leap in replicating complex biological locomotion in soft machines. Complementing this, his 2016 work on ZnSnO₃-based humidity sensors (45 citations) demonstrated a micro-to-nano scale transfer printing method that allows sensor fabrication onto arbitrary substrates, dramatically expanding application possibilities. Together, these contributions showcase Yang’s ability to bridge materials innovation with functional device integration, establishing him as a key figure in creating more agile, adaptable soft robots and versatile sensing platforms.
