About

Wen-shin Lee is a materials scientist whose research focuses on the development of advanced soft actuators and artificial muscles, with a particular emphasis on electrothermally responsive materials. Lee’s most notable contribution is the design of a silver-polyethylene-terephthalate (PET) core–shell structure that functions as an electrothermally actuated artificial muscle, a breakthrough published in 2022. This work demonstrates how combining metallic conductivity with polymer flexibility can produce lightweight, high-performance actuators capable of large, reversible deformations under electrical stimulation.
