About
Dr. Sarbartha Kumar Pratihar is a pioneering robotic uro-oncologist whose work is reshaping the surgical landscape for genitourinary cancers. His primary research focuses on the application of advanced robotic platforms for complex oncological procedures, with a particular emphasis on penile cancer management. Dr. Pratihar’s major contribution lies in demonstrating the feasibility and safety of novel robotic systems in resource-constrained settings. He led a landmark multicenter Indian study on robot-assisted video endoscopic inguinal lymph node dissection (RA-VEIL) for penile cancer, reporting outcomes from three tertiary care centers (4 citations). This work is critical for reducing morbidity in a disease where traditional open surgery carries high complication rates. Additionally, Dr. Pratihar has been at the forefront of evaluating the indigenously developed SSI Mantra™ surgical robotic system, publishing early clinical experiences in major uro-oncological surgeries (2 citations each). His work with the Mantra system is particularly notable, as it represents a significant step toward affordable, domestically-produced robotic surgery technology. By validating these platforms for radical prostatectomies and cystectomies, Dr. Pratihar is helping to democratize access to minimally invasive surgery across India, making him a key figure in the global expansion of robotic urology.
