About
Mujahid Ali is a pioneering urologic surgeon and researcher whose work is reshaping the landscape of robotic uro-oncology, particularly in India. His primary research focuses on the application of advanced robotic platforms for the surgical management of complex genitourinary cancers, including upper-tract urothelial carcinoma and penile cancer. Ali’s major contributions include landmark comparative analyses demonstrating that robot-assisted radical nephroureterectomy offers surgical and oncological outcomes comparable to traditional laparoscopic approaches, with potential advantages in precision and recovery. He has also been instrumental in advancing the field of penile cancer care, leading the first Indian multicenter study on robot-assisted video endoscopic inguinal lymph node dissection (RA-VEIL), a minimally invasive technique that reduces morbidity in intermediate- and high-risk patients. Notably, Ali is at the forefront of evaluating emerging technologies, having reported the initial clinical outcomes of the indigenously developed SSI Mantra™ surgical robotic system for uro-oncology procedures. With his most-cited papers accumulating over a dozen citations in just two years, Ali’s work is rapidly gaining recognition for expanding access to cutting-edge, minimally invasive surgical care in resource-constrained settings.
