Dr. Patrick Yu‐Wai‐Man is a leading figure in neuro-ophthalmology and mitochondrial medicine, whose research has fundamentally advanced our understanding of inherited optic neuropathies. His seminal work on Leber hereditary optic neuropathy (LHON) has been pivotal, with his studies on the natural history and treatment of this condition collectively garnering thousands of citations.
