About
Paolo Gontero is a leading urologic oncologist whose research has profoundly shaped the surgical management of upper tract urothelial carcinoma, renal tumors, and recurrent prostate cancer. His work is distinguished by a commitment to large-scale, multicenter prospective studies that provide high-level evidence for surgical decision-making. As a key figure in the European Association of Urology Guidelines, his 2017 systematic review on laparoscopic versus open nephroureterectomy (156 citations) established a benchmark for oncological outcomes.
