Matteo Gatti is a leading researcher at the intersection of precision viticulture and agricultural robotics. His work centers on automating one of the most labor-intensive tasks in vineyard management: winter pruning. By combining computer vision, deep learning, and robotic manipulation, Gatti has pioneered methods for pruning region detection, plant organ segmentation, and pruning point generation from 3D point clouds.
