About
Dr. Linh Ngo is a pioneering cardiac surgeon whose work centers on advancing minimally invasive, totally endoscopic cardiac surgery (TES) without robotic assistance. Her major contributions demonstrate that complex congenital and acquired heart defects can be safely repaired through small ports while the heart continues beating, eliminating the need for sternotomy, cardiopulmonary bypass, or expensive robotic systems. In her landmark study of 25 patients undergoing atrial septal defect (ASD) closure on a beating heart, Dr. Ngo achieved excellent safety and efficacy outcomes (17 citations). She further extended TES to high-risk cases, including the first reported non-robotic endoscopic resection of a giant left atrial myxoma causing severe mitral stenosis (10 citations), and successfully performed ASD repair in a 10.5 kg toddler using transthoracic aortic cannulation (8 citations). Her work has also been applied to partial atrioventricular septal defect repair in children.
