Dr. Kevin Schuler is a leading gynecologic oncologist whose research has significantly advanced the surgical management of endometrial cancer. His most impactful contribution is the landmark FIRES trial, a multicentre, prospective cohort study that compared sentinel lymph node biopsy to complete lymphadenectomy for endometrial cancer staging. Published in 2017, this work has garnered over 900 citations, fundamentally changing clinical practice by demonstrating that a less invasive sentinel node approach can accurately stage disease while reducing surgical morbidity.
