About

Joseph Manganelli’s research sits at the vital intersection of assistive robotics, human-centered design, and rehabilitation engineering. His most notable contribution is the pioneering development of the Assistive Robotic Table (ART), a system specifically designed to aid stroke patients during their recovery. In a formative 2017 study, Manganelli engaged 14 healthcare subject matter experts and four research and design specialists at a regional rehabilitation hospital, using participatory design methods to prototype and evaluate the table.
