About
Jizhuang Wang is a pioneering researcher at the forefront of micro/nanorobotics, biomedicine, and smart materials engineering. His work centers on designing and controlling miniaturized robotic systems capable of operating at the cellular scale, with transformative implications for targeted drug delivery, biosensing, and environmental remediation. Wang's most influential contribution, his 2018 review on light-driven micro/nanomotors (288 citations), established a foundational framework for understanding how these miniaturized machines can bridge the gap between macroscale motors and molecular motors, articulating their biomedical promise while candidly addressing engineering challenges. Building on this, his 2022 work on light hybrid micro/nanorobots expanded the field by exploring how light can serve as a versatile, tunable control mechanism for untethered robotic systems in hard-to-reach biological environments. More recently, Wang has pioneered the integration of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) into microrobotics, developing magnetically guided swarms for pH-responsive drug delivery (2024) and microwheel-robots for triglyceride degradation (2025). His 2023 work on structural-color composite films further demonstrates his versatility in functional materials design. Collectively, Wang's research has amassed nearly 400 citations, marking him as a significant and rapidly emerging voice in next-generation biomedical microrobotics.
