About
Ho Ko is a pioneer in the emerging field of biohybrid and soft microrobotics, with a focus on translating these tiny machines into real-world medical interventions. His research centers on the magnetic navigation of microrobots for targeted therapy within the body’s most challenging environments, particularly the vasculature and the gastrointestinal tract. Ko’s landmark 2021 work, cited over 340 times, introduced an endoscopy-assisted magnetic navigation system capable of delivering soft microrobots with high precision at the whole-body scale, overcoming critical barriers to vision-based control in deep, narrow anatomical spaces. He has since pushed the boundaries of intravascular therapy, demonstrating tPA-anchored nanorobots for submillimeter-scale arterial recanalization and, most recently, a novel strategy for rapid blood clot removal via remote delamination and magnetization of clot debris.
