Charlotte Jewell is a human-robot interaction (HRI) researcher whose work spans industrial robotics, social robotics, and assistive technologies. She is perhaps best known for her pioneering investigation into collaborative robots (cobots) in manufacturing settings, most notably her highly cited 2018 study "Working with Walt," which garnered 104 citations and offered rare, detailed insight into how a cobot was developed and deployed on a real automotive assembly line. This work highlighted the complementary strengths of humans and robots working in tandem on tasks resistant to full automation.
