About

Anna Friesel is a Danish engineering educator whose career has centered on innovative pedagogy in robotics, autonomous systems, and more recently, the ethical dimensions of artificial intelligence in engineering education. Based at the Copenhagen University College of Engineering, she has been a pioneering force in project-based and interdisciplinary learning, most notably through a landmark fourth-semester undergraduate course in which students design and build fully autonomous mobile robots — an approach documented in her most-cited works from 2004 and 2007, which together have accumulated 30 citations. Her research demonstrates that combining hands-on robot development with foundational disciplines such as microprocessors, control theory, and mathematical modeling produces more skilled and inventive engineers.
