About
A. Heckel is a leading researcher in satellite-based aerosol remote sensing, whose work has fundamentally advanced our ability to monitor atmospheric aerosols on a global scale. Their primary research focuses on merging disparate satellite aerosol optical depth (AOD) records to create consistent, long-term climate data records, and on evaluating these products against climate models. Heckel’s most impactful contribution, the 2020 paper "Merging regional and global aerosol optical depth records from major available satellite products," has garnered over 213 citations, establishing a foundational methodology for combining observations from multiple satellite sensors with varying lifetimes.
