About
Rosario Leonardi is a pioneering urologic surgeon whose research focuses on the frontiers of robotic surgery and advanced prostate cancer imaging. His most impactful work demonstrates a commitment to expanding the boundaries of minimally invasive techniques, as evidenced by his highly cited case report on the robot-assisted laparoscopic resection of a huge pelvic tumor (10 citations). This study showcased the feasibility of using robotic platforms to tackle traditionally open, high-risk procedures in the anatomically constrained pelvic cavity. Dr. Leonardi has also made significant contributions to the understanding of surgical training, authoring a comprehensive review on the learning curves for both multi-port and single-port robotic urologic procedures. Furthermore, he is at the forefront of integrating novel diagnostics into clinical practice, leading a prospective multicenter evaluation of urologists’ ability to interpret PSMA-PET scans for prostate cancer staging. Through these diverse contributions—from complex surgical case reports to critical evaluations of emerging technologies—Dr. Leonardi is shaping the future of urologic oncology and surgical education.
