About
M. R. Perrone is a leading figure in atmospheric aerosol research, with a career dedicated to understanding the complex role of airborne particles in the climate system. Her work centers on the development and application of advanced remote sensing techniques, particularly the integration of lidar and radiometer data. Her most significant contribution is the co-development of the Lidar-Radiometer Inversion Code (LIRIC), a seminal algorithm that retrieves vertical profiles of aerosol properties. This work, published in a highly cited 2016 paper (139 citations), has become a cornerstone for the European Aerosol Research Lidar Network (EARLINET).
