About
Jing Chu is a pioneering gynecologic surgeon whose research focuses on advancing minimally invasive surgical techniques, particularly robotic-assisted and laparoendoscopic single-site surgery for gynecologic cancers. Her work centers on improving both oncologic outcomes and patient quality of life through surgical innovation. In her landmark 2021 study, she conducted the first comparative analysis of robotic single-site surgery versus conventional laparoendoscopic single-site surgery for stage IB1 cervical squamous carcinoma, demonstrating the superior perioperative outcomes of the robotic approach. This work, cited 11 times, has helped establish robotic single-site surgery as a viable therapeutic option. Chu also made significant contributions to surgical aesthetics, developing a modified placement technique for robotic-assisted single-site laparoscopic gynecologic surgery using common robotic instruments and the LAGIS single-site port. Her 2020 study addressed the cosmetic limitations of traditional multi-port robotic surgery by reducing incision requirements to a single umbilical site, achieving both surgical precision and superior aesthetic results.
