Abstract

In article number 2007982, Holger Steeb, Sabine Ludwigs, and co-workers present humidity-triggered bending actuators based on simple polymer bilayers and their in-depth mechanical characterization. A loop consisting of the mechanical characterization and a simple analytical model allows the prediction of deformations of in principle any complex geometry and material combination, for example, for moving parts and curvatures in soft robotics.
