Abstract
This paper presents a design and implementation of a robot for solving sudoku puzzle. The robot scans the sudoku puzzle, computes the solution and finally writes the solution on the puzzle. The robot was implemented with Lego Mindstorm NXT. First the robot scans the puzzle with the help of light sensor to identify non-empty and empty cells. Non-empty cells are scanned again to identify the numbers in the corresponding cells. After identifying the numbers in the non-empty cells, microcontroller is used to execute the proposed algorithm to solve the sudoku puzzle. The solution is displayed on the screen and the robot is designed to write the same on the paper with the help of a ball point pen. This robot was able to scan, solve and write the solution of the sudoku puzzle successfully.
