Abstract

The novel area of the Internet of Things (IoT) and robotic automation has experienced steady growth and massive breakthroughs in different industries including the hospitality industry. However, integrating these technologies into human-centric operations like restaurants presents unique challenges due to the requirement of complex interactions. This study addresses these issues by developing a tailored, cost-effective, self-sufficient robotic system for such settings. Our design includes an advanced path-following mechanism using black line tracing and supports multimodal interactions such as speech, text, and smartphone navigation. It also features sophisticated obstacle recognition and dynamic feedback capabilities to alert nearby individuals to potential obstructions, enhancing safety and efficiency. Our developed robot has sensors for precise food item retrieval and a digital interface for easy meal ordering via QR codes, integrated with an online payment system.
