Abstract
Communication is fundamental to the distribution of information and cooperation among multiple robots. Therefore,to build a multi-robot system with practical value,it is mandatory to study the communication performance in those systems.Different standards in the IEEE 802.11 wireless local area network(WLAN) family were studied, their impacts on the communication performance in multi-robot systems were discussed, and the time delay on the most commonly used 802.11g WLAN through extensive experiments was tested. The results would have value in building multi-robot communication systems based on WLAN.
