Abstract
The field of mobile robotics has been witness to a remarkable transformation in recent years, with technological advancements continuously shaping the future of these versatile robotic systems. In this comprehensive chapter, we embark on an exploratory journey into the heart of mobile robotics to unveil the emerging trends and innovations that are reshaping the landscape of these versatile robotic systems. Embarking on a journey through the trends of mobile robots, illustrating how these autonomous systems are extending their influence across various industries and domains from healthcare to logistics, agriculture to space exploration. Mobile robots have transcended boundaries and are now indispensable in streamlining operations and augmenting efficiency. This has led to the pivotal role of mobile robots being portrayed in real-world scenarios. One of the primary focal points of this chapter is the convergence of mobile robotics with cutting-edge technologies. We delve into the integration of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and computer vision, highlighting how these technologies empower mobile robots to perceive and interact with their environments with unprecedented precision and autonomy. Furthermore, this chapter investigates how these systems are revolutionizing tasks like search and rescue missions and ecological surveillance. Moreover, emerging trends reveal the ascension of swarm robotics and collaborative multi-robot systems. These paradigms emphasize the power of decentralized control and harmonious coordination among a collective of mobile robots. Additionally, this abstract touches upon the growing importance of human–robot interaction (HRI) and user-friendly interfaces. As mobile robots become more prevalent in everyday life, the need for intuitive and safe interactions between humans and robots is becoming increasingly apparent. In summation, this chapter underscores the dynamic nature of mobile robotics, reshaping our world in unforeseen ways. The emerging trends and innovations we explore here offer a tantalizing glimpse into the present and future of mobile robots, revealing a world of potential and opportunities yet to be fully realized.
