Abstract

In this demonstration, we describe a scenario developed in
\nthe EMOTE project. The overall goal of the EMOTE
\nproject is to develop an empathic robot tutor for 11-13 year
\nold school students in an educational setting. The pedagogical
\ndomain we demonstrate here is to assist students in learning
\nand testing their map-reading skills typically learned as
\npart of the geography curriculum in schools. We demonstrate
\nthis scenario with a NAO robot interacting with the
\nstudents whilst performing map-reading tasks in the form of
\na game on a touch-screen device
