Abstract

Infrared detector devices have demonstrated an ability for obstacle detection for mobile robot applications. An infrared detector system (IDS) for quickly obtaining multiple infrared detector readings and avoiding various interferences is presented. Twelve infrared emitter/receiver pairs are arranged in a ring and controlled by a computer. Hardware design, implementation and primary operator details of this system are outlined.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">></ETX>
