Abstract
In this study, we focus on the intelligent behavior of a soft body, and we propose a climbing robot inspired by an octopus. The robot can grasp various objects using its flexible arm and can climb ladders and rugged walls. We developed a prototype made of silicone and conducted experiments. Results confirmed that the proposed soft arm is effective, and the robot can climb various types of ladder and walls.
