摘要

This study validates our proposed neurorehabilitation system designed to combine robotics with other neural pathway rehabilitation techniques for wrist treatment. The system integrates the BiomechWrist, a 3-degree-of-freedom wrist rehabilitation exoskeleton, with an EEG and EMG biosignal acquisition subsystem and a virtual interface for performing motor tasks. Experimental testing validates the system’s reliability in recording brain and muscle activity during motor tasks, with visual evoked potentials (VEPs) consistently detected, and EMG signals correlated with motor encoder data in over 85% of the trials. The evidence presented highlights the system’s potential to improve neurorehabilitation through personalized therapies, overcoming some limitations of purely robotic systems and contributing to the advancement of rehabilitation research and clinical applications.
