摘要

Image fusion is a promising technique for remote sensing and medical imaging applications and may lead to significant breakthroughs in these fields. Image fusion refers to the procedure of merging several images into a solitary image, which enhances the image's quality, reliability, and accuracy. Pre-processing is regarded as a crucial stage for numerous applications, including robot vision, aerial, satellite imaging, and medical imaging, as well as guidance for robots or vehicles. The integration of complementary multi-temporal, multi-view, and multi-sensor information into a single image is achieved through image fusion in remote sensing. This technique enhances the quality of the resulting image while preserving the integrity of crucial features. In medical imaging, image fusion is beneficial to improve the accuracy of the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of several diseases. This paper discusses various image fusion techniques and their applications in remote sensing and medical imaging. The present challenges and future prospects of image fusion are also discussed.
