About
Yufei Chen is a leading surgical oncologist whose research focuses on the surgical management of adrenal tumors, particularly pheochromocytoma and adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC). Chen has made pivotal contributions to understanding how operative approach and institutional case volume directly impact oncologic outcomes. In a landmark 2021 study with 11 citations, Chen demonstrated the critical value of lymphadenectomy in ACC, showing that systematic node dissection improves staging and survival. This was reinforced by a 2022 analysis (10 citations) establishing that both surgical approach and higher case volume are independently associated with achieving negative resection margins—a key predictor of recurrence. Chen also led a major international multicenter study in 2024 (12 citations) comparing robotic and laparoscopic adrenalectomy for pheochromocytoma, providing evidence that minimally invasive techniques are safe and effective when performed at high-volume centers. Additionally, Chen’s 2024 analysis of adrenalectomy outcomes in patients with obesity (7 citations) addresses an important and growing clinical population. Through these high-impact, multi-institutional collaborations, Chen has helped define evidence-based standards for adrenal cancer surgery, directly influencing clinical guidelines and improving patient outcomes worldwide.
