Dr. Yu-Chen Huang is a rising leader in the development of smart, bio-inspired materials for soft robotics and biomedical applications. Their research focuses on creating advanced polymer systems—particularly hydrogels and shape memory polymers—that can sense and respond to environmental stimuli like temperature. Dr. Huang’s most impactful work, a 2023 study on a biomimetic bilayer hydrogel actuator (60 citations), introduced a biodegradable, thermoresponsive gelatin methacryloyl–poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) hydrogel with three-dimensional printability.
