Yan Xue is a pioneering researcher in social human-robot interaction, best known for developing the iCat robotic platform—a landmark contribution that has garnered over 200 citations. The iCat, a desktop user-interface robot with mechanically rendered facial expressions, became a foundational tool for studying how humans engage with socially expressive robots.
