About
Willet F. Whitmore was a pioneering urologic surgeon whose work fundamentally shaped the surgical management of bladder cancer. His primary research focus was the development and refinement of radical cystectomy as a definitive treatment for invasive bladder carcinoma. Whitmore’s most impactful contribution came in 1962 with his landmark study, “Radical Total Cystectomy for Cancer of the Bladder: 230 Consecutive Cases Five Years Later,” which has accumulated 263 citations.
