About
Peyman Sardari Nia is a pioneering cardiothoracic surgeon and researcher whose work sits at the intersection of surgical innovation, simulation technology, and bioethics. His primary research areas include minimally invasive mitral valve surgery (MIMVS), high-fidelity surgical simulation, and the ethical integration of artificial intelligence into clinical practice. Sardari Nia’s major contributions include the development of a high-fidelity MIMVS simulator (2018, 40 citations), a tool that has significantly advanced surgical training by providing a realistic, risk-free environment for skill acquisition. He also led an international survey-based assessment of MIMVS practices (2023), highlighting global disparities and the urgent need for standardized guidelines. More recently, his forward-looking review on the ethical considerations of AI in surgery (2025, 16 citations) has become a foundational reference, addressing critical issues of autonomy, human authority, and the patient-doctor relationship. Through this work, Sardari Nia has established himself as a leader not only in technical surgical innovation but also in shaping the responsible adoption of emerging technologies in the operating room.
