About

Nur Maisurah Hassan Basri is a robotics researcher whose work focuses on the development of specialized inspection robots for critical infrastructure, particularly within the energy sector. Her primary research areas include robotic systems design, non-destructive testing, and industrial automation. Her most significant contribution is the creation of the Boiler Header Inspection Robot (BHIR), a device engineered to inspect the inner surfaces of horizontal boiler header pipes in thermal power plants. This work directly addressed the challenge of inspecting enclosed pipes ranging from 3 to 20 meters in length, which are difficult to access manually. Her key publications, including "Robot for Boiler Header Inspection 'LS-01'" (18 citations) and "Development of robotic boiler header inspection device" (11 citations), document the design, prototyping, and site testing of these robots. She also contributed to the development of a redundant localization system for the BHIR and an RS-485 interface for its control. Her work, conducted in collaboration with Tenaga Nasional Berhad, has practical implications for improving the safety and efficiency of power plant maintenance in Malaysia.
