About

Norio Azumi is a leading figure in radiation oncology and urologic surgery, renowned for pioneering advances in stereotactic radiosurgery and robotic-assisted prostate cancer treatment. His research focuses on optimizing radiation delivery techniques to minimize toxicity while maximizing tumor control, particularly for complex cranial and pelvic malignancies. In his seminal 2013 study on five-fraction image-guided radiosurgery for meningiomas (26 citations), Azumi demonstrated that hypofractionated approaches can safely treat large or critically located benign tumors, reducing the risk of symptomatic peritumoral edema compared to single-fraction radiosurgery. This work has influenced clinical protocols worldwide.
