About

Meghali Bora is a pioneering researcher at the intersection of biomimetics, microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), and flow sensing technologies. Drawing inspiration from the remarkable sensory biology of blind cavefish, her work centers on developing next-generation artificial flow sensors that replicate the extraordinary sensitivity of biological lateral line neuromasts. Her most celebrated contribution, a nanofibril scaffold-assisted MEMS artificial hydrogel neuromast sensor (2016), has garnered 96 citations and demonstrated how hyaluronic acid-based biomimetic hydrogel cupulae can dramatically enhance sensor sensitivity and resolution. Building on this foundation, Bora advanced the field further by engineering self-powered MEMS flow sensors with biomimetic hydrogel cupulae, accumulating 49 citations, and pioneering hydrogel-CNT network architectures that exploit fluid-structure interactions for ultrasensitive nanosensing applications, earning 35 additional citations. Collectively, her research addresses critical demands in human motion detection, biomedical robotics, prosthetics, and health monitoring. With a total of 180 citations across these three landmark studies alone, Bora's innovative fusion of biological inspiration with cutting-edge nanofabrication has established her as a significant voice shaping the future of bio-inspired sensing technology.
