About
Jiaojiao Shang is a leading researcher in the development of advanced smart materials, with a primary focus on multi-responsive hydrogels and nanofibrous actuators. Her work bridges the gap between fundamental polymer chemistry and practical soft robotics, creating materials that can sense and respond to environmental stimuli. Shang’s most influential contribution is her 2018 paper on a smart composite hydrogel, which has garnered 113 citations. In this work, she introduced a novel photo-patterning method to fabricate hydrogels with programmable, inhomogeneous compositions, enabling unprecedented control over actuation triggered by pH, ionic strength, and temperature.
