Jiamiao Jiang is pioneering the frontier of micro/nanorobotics for biomedical applications, with a focus on designing intelligent, miniaturized machines that operate inside the human body. Their research spans three key areas: photoelectrochemical nanomotors, magnetically actuated biodegradable robots, and biomimetic microrobots for active immunotherapy and gastrointestinal therapy. A standout contribution is the development of a TiO₂-Au-nanowire-based motor that uses light to precisely modulate single-neuron activities (68 citations), demonstrating unprecedented control at the cellular level. Jiang also engineered a visible-light-driven TiO₂@N-Au nanorobot capable of penetrating the vitreous humor of the eye, opening new avenues for ophthalmic drug delivery. In immunotherapy, their magnetically actuated biodegradable nanorobots (20 citations) offer a cost-effective platform for activating T-cell immune responses against cancer.
