Jeroen W. A. Leijtens is a leading surgical oncologist whose research focuses on advancing minimally invasive techniques for rectal cancer treatment, particularly total mesorectal excision (TME). His major contributions lie in comparing the short-term, oncologic, and functional outcomes of laparoscopic, robot-assisted, and transanal TME approaches.
