About
Dr. Guoyang Wu is a pioneering surgeon whose work has fundamentally advanced the field of transoral endoscopic and robotic thyroid surgery. His primary research focuses on developing and standardizing minimally invasive approaches to thyroid and parathyroid procedures, particularly the transoral vestibular approach (TOETVA). Dr. Wu’s major contributions include co-authoring the landmark 2016 systematic review and bi-center study on transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy, which synthesized global experience across 477 patients and established critical benchmarks for complication rates, such as transient recurrent laryngeal nerve palsy. This work, with 14 citations, remains a foundational reference for surgeons worldwide. More recently, Dr. Wu led the development of the 2024 Chinese expert consensus on transoral vestibular approach robotic thyroidectomy and parathyroidectomy, a pivotal document that standardizes techniques and safety protocols for this innovative robotic surgery. His efforts have directly shaped clinical guidelines, improving patient outcomes and expanding access to scarless neck surgery. With a growing citation impact and leadership in consensus-building, Dr. Wu is recognized as a key authority driving the evolution of thyroid surgery toward less invasive, more cosmetically favorable approaches.
