Goutami Banerjee is a pioneering researcher in the field of lignocellulosic biofuel production, with a particular focus on enzyme optimization for plant biomass deconstruction. Her work addresses one of the most significant economic barriers to renewable fuel development: the prohibitively high cost of enzymes required to break down plant cell walls into fermentable sugars.
