Giuseppe Balistreri is a pioneering researcher in human-robot interaction (HRI), with a focus on the social acceptance and natural engagement of teleoperated androids, particularly among elderly populations. His most impactful work, "Exploring the Natural Reaction of Young and Aged Person with Telenoid in a Real World" (2011, 103 citations), presents field studies in shopping malls and with seniors aged 70–90, using his custom-developed android, Telenoid R1.
