Fang-Hua Yao is a pioneering figure in the field of parallel robotics, with a focused expertise in the structural synthesis of lower-mobility parallel mechanisms. Yao’s major contributions center on developing systematic, topology-based methods for designing parallel robots with specific degrees of freedom (DOF). Their seminal 2001 paper, "Structure Synthesis of 4-DOF (3-Translation and 1-Rotation) Parallel Robot Mechanisms," which has garnered 27 citations, introduced an innovative approach using single-opened-chain (SOC) units to reveal topological characteristics of rank-degenerate mechanisms.
