About

Erinn Field is a leading researcher in urologic surgical innovation, with a primary focus on robot-assisted surgery for prostate and bladder cancer. Her work has fundamentally advanced how surgeons are trained and evaluated, particularly through the development and validation of structured curricula like the Fundamental Skills of Robotic Surgery (FSRS) program. Field’s landmark multi-institutional randomized controlled trial on augmented-reality-based skills training for urethrovesical anastomosis (95 citations) demonstrated that immersive technology can significantly accelerate skill acquisition in complex robotic procedures. She also led the creation of the Robotic Anastomosis Competency Evaluation, a validated tool that sets a new standard for assessing surgical proficiency. Beyond training, Field has made critical contributions to oncologic outcomes, identifying predictors of complete pathologic response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy in muscle-invasive bladder cancer (61 citations) and developing a quality assurance score for robot-assisted radical cystectomy through a decade-long analysis. Her collaborative work with the International Robotic Cystectomy Consortium has helped establish global benchmarks for perioperative outcomes. With over 350 total citations, Field’s research bridges surgical education, technology, and patient care, making her a pivotal figure in modern urologic oncology.
