Charles Ichoku is a prominent atmospheric scientist whose research has fundamentally advanced our understanding of aerosols, remote sensing, and biomass burning emissions. Best known for his central role in developing and validating NASA's MODIS aerosol retrieval algorithms, Ichoku's work has enabled near-global daily monitoring of atmospheric aerosols from the Terra and Aqua satellites — tools now indispensable to climate and air quality science.
