About

Carl Pennypacker is a pioneering figure in robotic astronomy and science education, whose work has fundamentally shaped how we access the cosmos and bring its wonders into the classroom. His research centers on developing autonomous observatories for extreme environments and creating standardized protocols for remote telescope operation. Pennypacker’s most significant contribution is co-founding the PLATO observatory, a fully self-contained robotic facility deployed to Antarctica’s Dome A.
