About

Dr. Anbang Chen is pioneering the next generation of flexible, durable energy storage and electronic skin technologies. His research focuses on developing mechanically robust materials that can withstand extreme environmental conditions, a critical need for aerospace and robotic engineering. In a landmark 2022 study (96 citations), Dr. Chen demonstrated a mechanically stable, all-flexible supercapacitor that maintains fracture and fatigue resistance even under harsh temperatures, solving a key bottleneck for wearable and deployable devices. More recently, his 2023 work (51 citations) introduced a liquid-free conducting ionoelastomer (LFCIg) that is both 3D-printable and self-healing. This material enables multifunctional electronic skin with tactile sensing capabilities, capable of detecting light objects and mapping spatial pressure variations. By combining unprecedented mechanical stability with advanced manufacturing, Dr. Chen’s contributions are directly enabling practical applications in flexible robotics and next-generation e-skin, positioning him as a leading innovator in the field of soft, resilient electronics.
